Dr. Joseph W. S cott, an associate professor o f sociology at the U n ivers ity o f To ledo , has been named an associate profes­ sor o f sociology and d irec to r o f the new Black Studies Program at the U n ivers ity o f N o tre Dame. The 35-year-old sociologist w ill head the Black Studies Program recently established w ith in the U n ive rs ity ’s College o f A rts and Letters and scheduled to start next fa ll. The appo in tm en t was made by the Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C S C., president o f N o tre Dame. A native o f D e tro it and a graduate o f Central M ichigan U nivers ity at M ount Pleasant, Scott received his M .A . and Ph.D. from Ind iana U n ivers ity . He taught at the U n ivers ity o f K en tucky fo r tw o years and was a v is iting professor at M ichigan State U n ivers ity before jo in in g the U n ivers ity o f Toledo facu lty in 1967. His research areas include social o rgan iza tion , devi­ ant behavior, social c o n flic t, urban problem s and race rela­ tions. In 1967 he was princ ipa l investigator o f the K en tucky T ra in ing Project o f the U.S. Departm ent o f Health , Educa­ tio n , and Welfare, and last June

The concepts of $L$-convex systems and Scott-hull spaces are proposed on frame-valued setting. Also, we establish the categorical isomorphism between  $L$-convex systems and Scott-hull spaces. Moreover, it is proved that the category of $L$-convex structures is  bireflective in the category of $L$-convex systems. Furthermore, the quotient systems of $L$-convex systems are studied.
